West Side of Lethbridge is booming,
and is expected to do so for the foreseeable future. The University of
Lethbridge which is presently expanding, contributes to the high
demand for real estate in this area. The majority of
real estate in West Lethbridge is less than 30 years old, so this is
not the place to look for a fixer-upper or old timer.
West Lethbridge is separated
from the rest of Lethbridge by the Old Man River. However, unlike
other cities, the river is not an impediment to traffic flow. Highway
3 crosses the river with a 4-lane bridge, and Whoop-Up Drive crosses
the river with a 6-lane bridge, more than enough capacity for future
use.
Shopping
amenities presently revolve around the Safeway / Home
Hardware shopping mall, but this will change when the planned west
side Walmart is opened.
Leisure activities are catered for with two swimming
pools, a maze of green strip walking paths, Nicholas Sheran Park,
Paradise Canyon Golf and Country Club, Popson Park, and Cottonwood
Park Nature Reserve.
